Group Therapy
Group therapy at the RELATIONSHIP INSTITUTE is an advanced treatment modality for working on interpersonal relationship issues. We offer a closed therapy group, being composed of up to a maximum of eight men and women who work together with a psychotherapist to become aware of and change unhealthy relationship patterns. The group is a 'relationship laboratory' where participants re-create relationship issues and patterns that they create in their lives, some of which they may not realize they do. In the group, participants have the opportunity to get honest, constructive feedback about how others experience them in an intimate interpersonal situation. They also get experiential help in breaking free from unhealthy projections and patterns they create with others.
Because Group therapy is an advanced modality which accelerates the processing of personal issues, participants must be carefully screened before beginning the process. Most participants find that being in individual therapy simultaneously with Group therapy helps them to understand and process their experiences in the group much more effectively.
One of our therapists would be glad to speak on the phone to help someone evaluate whether group therapy would be helpful in their unique situation, and whether they would be an appropriate candidate for group.
