Pamela Newsome-Hartman, MA, LPC
I believe a trusting relationship between counselor and client is important. I am comfortable working with individuals from diverse cultures and lifestyles. I feel being accepting, objective, respectful, and genuine are essential characteristics for working with clients. My goal for the counseling process is to help clients gain personal insight, knowledge, and tools that will facilitate continued growth and development after therapy has ended.
My understanding of counseling comes from many different theoretical orientations, and depending on your individual needs, I will use different methods of therapy. Person-Centered therapy will be my primary approach. I believe that the client has the solutions to their dilemmas within themselves. We have the freedom to choose what direction our life takes and the responsibility to take control of that freedom. As your therapist, I do not have the answers to your dilemmas, instead I function as a facilitator of the process that will assist you with discovering your own solutions.
Pamela works with individuals, teens and couples at the Relationship Institute. Her expertise includes working with anxiety; depression; PTSD; ADHD; LGBTQ issues; grief; trauma and intimacy.
Pamela works out of our Royal Oak office.
